Position Summary

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is seeking a Grant Manager for their Bayfront Health Foundation office who will be responsible for developing corporate and private grant funding opportunities to support specifically identified programs within Orlando Health. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Writes, manages, and submits philanthropic grant proposals to corporate, private, and government entities.
  • Serves as consultant and advisor to prospective departments seeking grant funding by assisting them with the organization of their proposal ideas, ensuring their compliance with guidelines, and assisting with the appropriate calculation of budgets—including indirect overhead costs, as appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures governing the implementation of grants inclusive of their terms, conditions, and intent.
  • Candidate must have strong writing skills

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Writes, manages, and submits philanthropic grant proposals to corporate, private, and government entities.
  • Actively seeks and develops creative and strategic relationships with grant-making organizations and individuals to support specifically identified programs within Orlando Health.
  • Assures that all grant-related documentation including, but not limited to proposals, letters of intent, progress and final reports are completed, signed and mailed prior to grant deadlines.
  • Assures that all appropriate persons are notified of submissions, regardless of whether the grant-related documentation is initiated by Grants Administration or another Orlando Health department.
  • Develops relationships with private foundations and corporations to ensure the success of grant activities.
  • Establishes and maintains an open and positive working relationship with administrators, physicians, managers, team members, alliances, partners and the community.
  • Develops and enhances relationships within the corporation to routinely solicit information regarding the grant funding needs of Orlando Health departments.
  • Serves as consultant and advisor to prospective departments seeking grant funding by assisting them with the organization of their proposal ideas, ensuring their compliance with guidelines, and assisting with the appropriate calculation of budgets—including indirect overhead costs, as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with the Orlando Health Foundation Financial Manager, ensures compliance with policies and procedures governing the implementation of grants inclusive of their terms, conditions, and intent.
  • Monitors foundation and corporate health care initiatives at local, state, and national levels for potential grant funding opportunities.
  • Ensures that Grants Administration activities are coordinated with other aspects of Orlando Health.
  • Assists the Foundation Vice President—Grants Administration in analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of corporate and private grant funding activities and to, as necessary, make changes to funding strategy with specific funders.
  • Assists the Foundation Vice President—Grants Administration in establishing and implementing a system to communicate with Orlando Health departments routinely regarding potential grant opportunities.
  • Assists the Foundation Vice President—Grants Administration with the details of proposal planning, development, submission and other administrative functions as assigned.
  • Assists the Foundation Vice-President—Grant Administration by conducting in-service training to other members of Orlando Health, as necessary.
  • Promotes a corporate atmosphere conducive to developing and sustaining interest and involvement in grant proposal preparation.
  • Protects and enhances the integrity and image of Orlando Health through the management and monitoring of communication with funding sources.
  • Responsible for coordinating tours of Orlando Health facilities for corporate and private grant funders.
  • Travels to corporate or private grant funders to discuss Orlando Health philanthropic needs as required.
  • Assists in the management of various human resources functions, including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

  • Works with appropriate development staff at the Orlando Health Foundation to coordinate information on grant funding.
  • Represents area of responsibility in discussions of the Orlando Health mission, strategic planning, budget planning, operational planning and review of policies.
  • Mentors the professional development of all team members and acts as role model for all team members.
  • Provides for his/her own personal and professional growth and for the growth of fellow team members.
  • Keeps current with legal issues related to operations and industry trends.

Qualifications

Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree.

 

Licensure/Certification
None

 

Experience
Two (2) years of experience in a related healthcare field with progressive responsibility for program development activities

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong writing skills
