Plans, performs, and delegates proper functioning of piped systems to include natural gas, medical gases, vacuum, heating, steam (traps and piping), valves, controls, piping, outside utilities on premises(sewer and storm drains, gas, water), water distillers, pumps, hot and
cold water, tanks, drains, water booster systems and fire protection throughoutthe Orlando Health facilities
• Receives and reviews work orders and makes assignments to plumbers and mechanics.
• Coordinates schedules and projects with the Engineering Supervisor and/or Manager.
• Works closely with departmentleadership to ensure a safe environment as prescribed by The Joint Commission.
• Repairs, adjusts, or replacesthe entire plumbing systems, including waste-vent water piping, and fixtures and equipment served by
these systems in compliance with state plumbing code.
• Plans, installs and services plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls used to transport water, waste, or gases.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures. Installs supports and hangers for pipes,
fixtures, and equipment. Assembles and installs valves, controls, and fittings.
• Reviews drawings, plans and specifications to determine system layout for repair or modification.
• Collaborates with outside utility vendors on premises and calls additionalsupportfrom outside contractors and vendors as needed
to maintain the integrity of all related systems.
• Responds to emergency calls.
• Worksindependently from work orders or verbal instructions and prioritizes work based on type and circumstance.
• Works with inspectors from the water and/or sewer department, fire department and plumbing inspectors.
• Performs visual inspections to detect abnormal operation and correct deficiencies.
• Maintains inventory and orders stock.
• Identifiesrequired tools and special equipment.
• Installs variousfixturesin new work and remodeling projects.
• Coordinates shutdown of various plumbing systems as necessary.
• Supervises trades assigned to help with plumbing projects.
• Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state,
and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
Education/Training
High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
Valid Florida driver’slicense with no more than six (6) points, at least 21 years of age, and must be insurable under the Orlando Health
insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
Experience
Five(5) years’ experience as a plumber, preferably in a healthcare facility. Three (3) years of experience isrequired of a tradeor vocational
school graduate
